About Us

Made in Bali. Distributed from England.

The Balinese Trading Company was created to bring the unique designs and crafts of Bali to the UK. Internationally recognised as one of the chicest destinations for interior design with its unique bohemian lifestyle.  Founded by Alison Bosworth who established partnerships with artisan producers across the island.  Bonds Lifestyle took over the reins in February 2022, to build on the success Alison started and to continue working and respecting the artisans of Bali.

Who We Are

We are a family owned and run business with strong values and beliefs - sustainability, culture and humanity being at the core of our ethics wherever possible. Our long standing love affair with Bali began in 2001, and we have stayed connected with this glorious part of the world since then.  Our small Balinese team are based in a uniquely peaceful village just outside of Ubud.  Our UK team is in Stratford upon Avon.  Our philosophy is to create a range of natural and organic pieces that will become timeless additions to your home at an attainable price, whilst providing support and business to our partners in Bali.

Our Approach

Each collection is bespoke and created with a British home and garden in mind whilst giving you access to the unique exotic homewares created on this mystical island known as the Island of the Gods. Using natural materials and fibres that are sustainable, raw and organic we produce authentic & artisanal goods that will fit beautifully and uniquely into your home. Inspired by ancient techniques handed down via the generations but always with style and design at their core, bringing the magic of Bali to your home.

Working directly with local artisans using our local knowledge rather than a sourcing company and mass production techniques. Our Balinese partners are knowledgeable and discerning. They are well versed in what is an authentic product rather than a mass produced item for the tourist market.

Our Ethical Commitment

Ethics is at the forefront of our approach.  Our aim is to help communities thrive through our business with them and we are also partnering with the Yayasan Relawan Bali Foundation making a donation to them for each item sold.

We work with our producers to ensure all of the craftspeople are paid the local living wage. We personally visit the places where the products are produced and with travel restrictions in place during the pandemic we are regularly provided updates via video call.
